Eiichiro Oda is not known for taking too many breaks but this time the author has decided to go on a vacation to prepare for the “final saga” of the popular manga series, One Piece. The official Twitter account of the franchise announced that the manga will take a 1-month break starting June 27th i.e. after the end of the long-running Wano Country arc.
The journey of Monkey D. Luffy’s adventure is presumably coming to an end as the author is planning to work on the “final arc” of the manga. The 4-week break is to allow series creator Eiichiro Oda to prepare for the 25th Anniversary of the series, the upcoming One Piece: Film RED, supervise the live-action and organize the ‘Final Saga’ of the series.
The hiatus will begin after the publication of Weekly Shonen Jump’s 30th issue of the year, which will be released in Japan on June 27th. The series will resume again starting July 25th, when the 34th issue of the manga magazine hits store shelves. Many fans are considering that the next arc is going to be the final act of One Piece, but as of now it cannot be said for sure.
Despite the hiatus, Oda will still have a full schedule this summer, as he is also working on the series’ upcoming 15th feature-length animated movie, One Piece Film: Red. The movie will premiere in Japan on August 6. Furthermore, he is also serving as the executive producer for Netflix’s upcoming live-action adaptation of his work.
