Here’s Why K-Pop Idols Continue To Live In Their Dorms, Even When They’re RICH Rich

With the global success of K-Pop, some may find themselves scratching their heads over why groups continue to live together in dorms.

For example, despite their huge success, Red Velvet was revealed to have moved into a different dorm five years after debuting. Seulgi had taken the smallest room, a converted laundry room, because their dorm only had four bedrooms.

So, why do idols who can, for all intents and purposes, afford to live independently continue to live with their groupmates, especially when they’ll have rules to follow?

A K-Pop fan recently broke down the reasons for why they believe idols make this choice, and it’s all very logical. They broke it down into several easy-to-understand reasons, so even though idols like Red Velvet’s Seulgi are super-rich, you can comprehend why they’d choose to live the dorm life.

For example: Are the idols filming a variety show together? BLACKPINK lived together when they were filming BLACKPINK House, which many fans attempted to visit during their vacation in Korea.

Not filming a variety show? Okay, that’s understandable. Well, some companies, encourage (er, require) their groups to live together in an effort to promote the spirit of togetherness. Additionally, it’s easier for their managers to handle their schedule when they’re all in one place — and as it’s been discussed before, managers are grossly mistreated by companies while simultaneously being underpaid for nearly working themselves to death.

It’s no secret that when an idol debuts, they shoulder a lot of debt from the company, who paid for their housing, training, and other various expenses. Living in company-sponsored dorms is a money-saving decision, as living independently would mean the idol would have to take on their own living expenses.

MAMAMOO, for example, lived in a dorm until they went to live separately in 2016, with member Hwasa moving into a $2.3 million dollar USD apartment!

And, they’re not the only group who chooses to live independently. BTS also chooses to live on their own, with leader RM having bought a luxury $4 million USD apartment in Seoul.

Whether they choose to continue to live in dorms or move on to luxury penthouses, the important thing is that each respective idol is making the choice they’re happiest and most comfortable with! Personally, we’d love to live the dorm life with our closest friends!

K-Pop girl group ITZY unveiled the opening trailer for their first full-length album, CRAZY IN LOVE. JYP Entertainment posted the video online on September 6 KST and began promotions for ITZY’s comeback.

This is the group’s first comeback in about five months and they plan on showing a different image through their new title track, “LOCO.” This album will officially release on September 24 at midnight EST and 1 PM KST.

Maroo Entertainment Announces Taeseung And Dongjun Will Leave GHOST9 - Trending News

Maroo Entertainment has announced Taeseung and Dongjun will be leaving GHOST9.

Maroo Entertainment shared the announcement through a post on the group’s official Twitter account.

"Hello, this is Maroo Entertainment.

We would like to share our announcement about Lee Taeseung and Hwang Dongjun. They have been promoting with GHOST9 up until now, and they will be concluding their promotions with GHOST9.

We have held lengthy conversations with both Taeseung and Dongjun about their future career paths, and after these discussions and respecting their opinions, they will be ending their activities as GHOST9 members.

Although their group activities have ended, please continue to support them in their new chapters of their lives. We will also continue to support them.

GHOST9 is currently working hard on their new album, and we would like to thank the fans for their love and support.

Here’s Who TWICE’s Nayeon Would Be In The Marvel Cinematic Universe - Trending News

TWICE‘s Nayeon has shown herself to be a bit of a nerd, specifically towards Marvel superheroes.

After her photoshoot with Elle Korea, Nayeon was asked a few tough questions about her love for all things super.

The first question she was asked seemed simple enough. “A huge Marvel fan Nayeon, which hero do you want to turn into, Thor vs Black Widow?” However, Nayeon answered in a way that was both unexpected and completely predictable.

“I love Iron Man” she said with a guilty grin. This answer should come as no shock to ONCEs as Nayeon has shared her love for the hero before.

During a past VLIVE broadcast, Nayeon couldn’t stop talking about her love for the avenger and the actor who plays him.

She even shared at the beginning of the broadcast that if she had a choice, she would be Iron Man.

This made her answer to her next question a major shock. When asked “What if you could be a hero?” Nayeon replied:

"I’ve always wanted Spider-Man’s skills. Which enable him to stick to and climb up anywhere, and climbing up the walls looked really fun." -Nayeon

While Nayeon hasn’t shown as much of a love for Spider-Man in the past, we hope she will be more willing to share her nerdy side with ONCEs in the future. 

Jang Ki Yong Enlists In The Military + Co-Stars Bid Him Farewell - Trending News

Jang Ki Yong is beginning his military service!

On August 23, Jang Ki Yong’s agency YG Entertainment shared, “Please cheer on Jang Ki Yong, who will return in good health after diligently completing his military duty.” The enlistment location and time have not been revealed to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Ahead of his enlistment, Jang Ki Yong uploaded a handwritten letter on Instagram along with a black-and-white photo of himself with his new short haircut.

The letter reads as follows:

"Hello. This is Jang Ki Yong. I was able to spend my 20s happily thanks to the people who have loved and supported me until now. I sincerely thank you. I’ll return strong and healthy for another amazing [time in my] 30s. Thank you everyone, and I love you." 

Kim Do Wan, who co-starred in “My Roommate Is a Gumiho” with Jang Ki Yong, also posted a selfie of the two together and wrote, “Take good care of your health. I’ll miss you.”

Choi Hee Seo uploaded a photo with Jang Ki Yong and the “Now, We Are Breaking Up” (literal translation) cast members Song Hye Kyo, Kim Joo Heon, Park Hyo Joo, and Yoon Na Moo with the caption, “Ki Yong, we love you!”

Until his enlistment, Jang Ki Yong was busy filming for “Now, We Are Breaking Up,” which is slated to premiere in November. After wrapping up filming, Jang Ki Yong also pre-recorded the press conference for the drama.

As a model-turned-actor, Jang Ki Yong began acting in the 2014 drama “It’s Okay, That’s Love.” He then continued to star in dramas including “Go Back Couple,” “My Ahjussi,” “Come and Hug Me,” “Search: WWW,” and “My Roommate Is a Gumiho,” as well as the films “The Bad Guys: Reign of Chaos” and “Sweet & Sour.”

Girl Group SOLIA Disbands 5 Days After Debut - Trending News

New girl group SOLIA has announced their disbandment only five days after their official debut.

SOLIA is a five-member girl group that released their debut album “DREAM” on August 17. Though the group promoted themselves through their Instagram account that was created on June 16, the group was officially active after debut for only five days.

Their agency Space Music Entertainment shared the following announcement on August 22:

"Hello, this is SOLIA. We apologize for suddenly surprising you with unfortunate news. Due to its circumstances, the company is no longer able to keep SOLIA going, so we have come to wrap up our activities after having long discussions with the company. It was a very short time, but we would like to thank and apologize to the fans who supported and loved us during that time. If you are curious about the members’ individual activities or daily lives, please follow the members’ individual Instagram accounts. Once again, we apologize to our fans. Member Soree wrote on her Instagram, “Though I am sad about our short period together, I was able to promote happily thanks to the members and our fans who cheered us on. Thank you for always supporting me and showing me attention even though I was lacking! Though my time is over as SOLIA’s Soree, please continue to support me in the future!” Sun-A (Sunyoung) shared, “Although the time I spent as SOLIA’s Sun-A wasn’t long, I’m thankful that I received so much love.
