Here’s Why K-Pop Idols Continue To Live In Their Dorms, Even When They’re RICH Rich

With the global success of K-Pop, some may find themselves scratching their heads over why groups continue to live together in dorms.

For example, despite their huge success, Red Velvet was revealed to have moved into a different dorm five years after debuting. Seulgi had taken the smallest room, a converted laundry room, because their dorm only had four bedrooms.

So, why do idols who can, for all intents and purposes, afford to live independently continue to live with their groupmates, especially when they’ll have rules to follow?

A K-Pop fan recently broke down the reasons for why they believe idols make this choice, and it’s all very logical. They broke it down into several easy-to-understand reasons, so even though idols like Red Velvet’s Seulgi are super-rich, you can comprehend why they’d choose to live the dorm life.

For example: Are the idols filming a variety show together? BLACKPINK lived together when they were filming BLACKPINK House, which many fans attempted to visit during their vacation in Korea.

Not filming a variety show? Okay, that’s understandable. Well, some companies, encourage (er, require) their groups to live together in an effort to promote the spirit of togetherness. Additionally, it’s easier for their managers to handle their schedule when they’re all in one place — and as it’s been discussed before, managers are grossly mistreated by companies while simultaneously being underpaid for nearly working themselves to death.

It’s no secret that when an idol debuts, they shoulder a lot of debt from the company, who paid for their housing, training, and other various expenses. Living in company-sponsored dorms is a money-saving decision, as living independently would mean the idol would have to take on their own living expenses.

MAMAMOO, for example, lived in a dorm until they went to live separately in 2016, with member Hwasa moving into a $2.3 million dollar USD apartment!

And, they’re not the only group who chooses to live independently. BTS also chooses to live on their own, with leader RM having bought a luxury $4 million USD apartment in Seoul.

Whether they choose to continue to live in dorms or move on to luxury penthouses, the important thing is that each respective idol is making the choice they’re happiest and most comfortable with! Personally, we’d love to live the dorm life with our closest friends!

Park Eun Bin Shares Tips On Not Becoming A Rude Adult, Thoughts On Playing A Genius On The Autism Spectrum, And More

Park Eun Bin tapped into undiscovered personas in a pictorial for Allure magazine!

The actress took a moment from her busy schedule to reflect on her life from handling multiple projects at once to what makes a “good” adult and the fears she’s aiming to overcome.

On the day of the interview, Park Eun Bin took a brief break from filming as Woo Young Woo for the upcoming drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” and attended the press conference for the movie “The Witch: Part 2. The Other One,” for which she plays the role of Kyung Hee. However, during the interview, she said, “I’m not Kyung Hee nor Young Woo. I’m Park Eun Bin. Today, I was able to tap into a different side of me that I didn’t even know about through the photo shoot. I experienced the feeling of, ‘I guess I can pull off this kind of thing too.'”

When prompted to talk more about filming for her new drama, she said, “The shoot went on for longer than I expected yesterday, so I got home at 4 a.m. in the morning. I haven’t gotten any sleep in two days. I’ve never had more lines than I have for this one. Being on set is really fun. The role I have is also fun, and I’m energized, but I think there are more aspects that I need to take on alone. It’s not like someone else can memorize my lines or solve things for me.”

In both “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” and “The Witch: Part 2. The Other One,” Park Eun Bin’s roles are kindhearted characters far from being villains. On this, the actress commented, “The pieces that have done well recently or the various roles that I get offered have a running theme. I think I often get offered characters that take the high road. It made me think that people see me as having a very upright image.”

As an actress who has been in the industry for a decade, Park Eun Bin also took some time to reflect on her journey and what adulthood means to her. For one, she stated that as a teen, she used to think that adults tended to be more rude than others her age. When asked to expand, she explained, “For example, adults were the ones that asked rude questions about life as a child actor. They were also the ones that worried unnecessarily. I used to get detrimental questions often. I would see careless adults and think to myself, ‘Just because you get old doesn’t mean you become a good adult.'”

She continued, “Honestly, I don’t think young people are truly young. They are all, according to their own age and world, living life and feeling everything. So if I can, I try not to give unwanted advice, although there are times I can’t help myself.”

Park Eun Bin has been receiving several offers for new roles, and it has been tough for her to decide which ones to take on. In her words, “There’s a thing called opportunity cost, right? These days, production schedules have been extended, so after completing one piece, it seems like the entire year has gone by.”

A couple dramas she does not regret choosing are “Do You Like Brahms?” and “The King’s Affection.” She reflected on these choices by saying, “‘Do You Like Brahms?’ allowed me to meet Song Ah who was also 29 years old at the time. I was able to sort through and wrap up my 20s with that project. ‘The King’s Affection’ gave me a role that I could never have even dreamed about having, and it allowed me to do everything I wanted to. It was really tough, but what other woman around my age would have the chance to take on the role of a Joseon Dynasty King?”

The interview transitioned into talking about Park Eun Bin’s latest work “Extraordinary Attorney Woo.” She explained that at first, she was worried about taking on the role. She said, “I was a bit afraid if I’d be able to pull it off without hurting or offending anyone.” She continued, “It’s my first genius-type character, and Young Woo is also on the autism spectrum. I think I thought about what is considered to be normal when taking on this role. What is it to be weird, what is it to be abnormal, and are normal people really normal?”

Wrapping up the interview, Park Eun Bin said, “I’ve seen about six episodes worth of the edited ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo.’ There’s an art to it. The director even said that although it’s a drama we filmed together and that he made, it’s still fun no matter how many times he watches it. Even the editor compared it to being ‘the vaccine of the era.’ It was so nice to have them say this, knowing that they’ve produced great works before. [It is great] to know that what I felt while reading the script wasn’t wrong and that the piece is headed in the right direction. Since I feel like I’m on a ship with a steadfast captain, I’m on an enjoyable voyage.”

BLACKPINK’s Lisa Reportedly Bought A Private Plane And Invited BTS’s V And Park Bo Gum Along For The Ride

BTS‘s V, actor Park Bo Gum, and BLACKPINK‘s Lisa all pulled up to the airport in sleek looks, ready for CELINE‘s Paris fashion show.

Later on, Lisa posted pictures of her on a private jet, enjoying her time in the sky.

On the same day, V posted photographs in a similar-looking private jet plane. Fans and Korean media confirmed that the three stars, including Park Bo Gum, had ridden the same plane.

While fans had speculated that CELINE had sent the jet for their ambassadors, the speculations were soon quelled. A private plane engineer by the name of Josh Jung uploaded a photo of the interior of the plane and tagged Lisa. Fans wondered why Josh only tagged Lisa when all three of them were on the plane.

A fan messaged Josh to ask about his Instagram story. Josh replied that he made the plane that Lisa bought. His reply sent fans into a frenzy as it confirmed that Lisa had either leased or bought the private plane.

Lisa had reportedly offered a ride to both V and Park Bo Gum. Online communities claimed that V’s flight schedule had been buzzing around Twitter amongst fans already. But it suddenly got canceled close to the flight date. Fans speculated that Lisa had offered both men a ride as they were going to the same schedule and destination. A kind queen indeed.

With all her busy schedules, it wouldn’t come as a surprise that Lisa dropped her hard-earned cash on a pair of wings!

Brave Girls’ Agency Demands Apology + Threatens Legal Action Against Shaman Claiming To Have Told Eunji’s Fortune

Brave Entertainment has threatened legal action against a shaman who claimed to have told Brave Girls’ Eunji’s fortune.

Last month, content channel babayo premiered a program called “Idols Picked by the Gods: Find the 2nd Brave Girls!” In the program, shaman Man Yeon Dang claimed that before Brave Girls’ breakout success due to their song “Rollin'” belatedly climbing back up the charts, Eunji had sought him out to have her fortune told. He also alleged that when everyone else told her to give up on her career as an idol, he was the only one who predicted that she would soon make it big, telling her, “You’re going to buy a house soon, so wait.”

On June 24, Brave Entertainment released an official statement clarifying that Eunji had never even met Man Yeon Dang in person and that his claims were entirely false. The agency also demanded a public apology from the shaman, explaining that they were concerned about not only damage to Eunji’s reputation, but also the possibility of further victims who might believe his story.

The agency’s full statement is as follows:

"Hello, this is Brave Entertainment.

First, we sincerely thank you for giving your interest and love to our artist.

As shaman Man Yeon Dang has claimed that he told the fortune of our artist, Brave Girls member Eunji, we are making a statement out of concern that there will be secondary damages to other victims or that our artist will suffer damage to her reputation.

We recently came across the program “Idol Picked by the Gods” on the OTT platform babayo, and in Episode 1, “Find the 2nd Brave Girls!”, the shaman Man Yeon Dang states that he told Brave Girls member Eunji’s fortune and that he predicted their belated rise to fame. We then checked with the artist herself regarding the truth. We learned that [his claims] are false and groundless, as Eunji has never even met Man Yeon Dang, and we confirmed that shaman Man Yeon Dang is spreading falsehoods.

Therefore, out of concern for the psychological damage to our artist and the possibility of secondary damages to people who are supporting our artist with innocent hearts, we are requesting a public apology from shaman Man Yeon Dang. We are also announcing that if the spreading of falsehoods continues, we will respond with strong legal action.

Through regular monitoring, our agency will continue to take strong action against the spread of falsehoods and the creation of false rumors about our artist, and we will do our utmost to protect our artist.

Thank you."

BTS’s Jimin Explains Why His OST Collaboration With Ha Sung Woon For K-Drama “Our Blues” Is So Meaningful To Him

BTS‘s Jimin shared that collaborating with solo singer-songwriter, and former HOTSHOT and Wanna One member Ha Sung Woon was extra meaningful to him.

In an interview with Weverse Magazine following the release of BTS’s anthology album Proof, Jimin revealed his personal struggles during the past couple of years, the direction in which he wants to take his solo music, and his experience collaborating with IRL best friend Ha Sung Woon.

After the release of Jimin and Ha Sung Woon‘s record-breaking collaborative OST for tvN K-Drama Our Blues, “With You,” Jimin held a live broadcast. During it, he told ARMYs, “Starting with this, I’m going to try many things.” So, interviewer Myungseok Kang asked him, “Are you currently working on new material?” This prompted Jimin to reveal that he plans to explore a mature, explicit, and raw side of himself in his new music.

Later, Myungseok Kang and Jimin talked more about his collaboration with Ha Sung Woon. Kang asked, “Was it a conscious decision to collaborate with someone with whom you have a well-known friendship?” Jimin replied, “Yes.”

Jimin and Ha Sung Woon have been publicly close friends for years. Yet, many fans may not realize just how far back they go. So, Jimin detailed their close bond.

"He was the first friend I made when I moved to Seoul. He’s the first non-school friend I ever made if you don’t include the other BTS members. We used to say, ‘Someday, when we both make it big, it would be something special if we made a song together and sent it out into the world.’ That was the meaning behind it: something I wanted to do someday." — Jimin

So, “With You” actually came to be due to a promise long ago. The friends have been talking about it for seven years!

Myungseok Kang: I guess you could say it all started from a promise made long ago.

Jimin: Right. We’d been talking about that for seven years, practically. We would show each other our songs or anything else we worked on whenever we made something. We kept that up and said, “Let’s try making some music together,” and then we really did. It was fun.

Myungseok Kang then asked if any of this influenced the tone with which Jimin chose to sing the song. He noted, “You tried singing in a completely different voice than usual.”

"You’re right. It gave me a lot of practice because it was really hard right from the beginning, so I had to redo it over and over. I kept saying, ‘I’ll try that again from the top,’ and changing a bunch of stuff, but it was a lot of practice, and it was a song for a soundtrack, so I tried really, really hard to give it a simpler sound than anything I usually did before." — Jimin

Myungseok Kang added, “It’s closer to your speaking voice than your singing voice. It seems like you must have tried a lot of different things in detail while recording, looking at the way your voice overlaps with SUNG WOON’s in the chorus or how the emotion in the melody is reminiscent of the first self-written song you ever released, ‘Promise,’ even though you didn’t write any of the music this time.” Jimin revealed that they “tried so many different things.”

"We called each other all the time, and I’m really grateful for the producer who worked with us because I was actually all finished recording, and I kept saying I wanted to try it again from the beginning when we were all finished recording, and I would say, ‘I’ll try it one more time,’ and I could tell that was a lot of hard work for them. It made me feel a lot of different things and it was an important learning experience. I think there were many moments that made me feel that way while we were working on it." — Jimin

“With You” is certainly an emotional track. It is for an emotionally heavy K-Drama, after all. Still, it is personal for Jimin too. So, Myungseok Kang asked, “Would you say that ‘With You’ was a way for you to try and find the emotions that you wanted to express?” Jimin compared it to “Promise,” both emotional songs of his.

"I took an MBTI test recently and it said I’m extroverted, but when I made ‘Promise’ I was really introverted and feeling depressed. I think ‘Promise’ was a chance for me to look at myself. I managed to come out of my shell a little thanks to that song. The first version of ‘With You’ we recorded was very emotional and there was a long process involved in relieving that emotion. ‘I’ll soften up a bit. … I’ll try it a little softer. … Ah, right—a little bit softer now. … I’ll just try it nice and simple.’ Like that. I wanted to show sadness and a desperate longing expressed in a simple style." — Jimin

BTS Have Very Different Approaches To An “Ending Fairy” Competition During “Music Bank”

There were a lot of exciting things that ARMYs were treated to after BTS made a comeback with their newest album PROOF. As well as performances, live broadcasts, and new content, the group finally made their return to music for the first time in over two years.

Although the performances themselves are exciting, one thing that netizens always look forward to is the ending fairies. Over the years, they have developed and changed with time and it has become a huge part of each performance.

Well, even though BTS has been away from music shows for a while, it seems like they haven’t lost touch with the perfect way to do an ending fairy. In fact, they seem to be embracing it and reacting to their roles in very different ways.

On June 17 (KST), the group returned to Music Bank to perform their title track “Yet To Come (The Most Beautiful Moment),” and another track from their album “For Youth.” As expected, they slayed every minute with their talent, visuals, and charisma.

At the end of the show, the group cemented their dominance by winning that week… by beating themselves. They also decided that, in front of all their fans, they were going to do an “Ending Fairy Competition” when they wanted to show off their “Ending expressions.”

Oldest member Jin went first and he had no worries about going for a sexy pose and even giving a little kiss to ARMYs…

Suga stook to what he loved doing the most, as shown by the previous day’s performance, and went for an over-the-top moment, where he seemed to be exaggerating his breathing.

Leader RM seemed more hesitant as he stayed safe with his pose, before adding, “Ah, I’m breaking into a cold sweat.” Yet, V came back with the confidence everyone expected, even explaining that he needed to go to the front of the stage to do it. It was worth the wait as it combined cute, sexy, and everything in the middle.

Of course, Jimin couldn’t be beaten by V and took himself to the front of the stage. Well, it’s almost impossible to even describe his ending pose in a way that isn’t just purely iconic.

According to Jin, J-Hope was the “master” of ending fairies, and it isn’t surprising considering how he probably managed to send the entire arena into meltdown with his charm.

Jungkook was the final member and as the youngest, he definitely has some pressure to deliver with an iconic ending fairy. He definitely didn’t disappoint as he dialed the sexiness of his pose to 11000% and unsurprisingly sent the audience into meltdown.

As expected, each of the members’ personalities was represented through their ending fairies, whether it was RM being shy, J-Hope dazzling with his visuals, or maknae line being dramatic AF. With one more show to go, it will be interesting to see the lengths BTS go to ensure they will go down in “Ending Fairy” history.

“Idol Star Athletics Championships” (ISAC) To Return This Chuseok For 1st Time In 3 Years

After three years, MBC’s “Idol Star Athletics Championships” (ISAC) is finally returning!

On June 17, MBC confirmed that its long-running “Idol Star Athletics Championships” was preparing to make a return to air.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the show typically aired over several days twice a year, once during the Lunar New Year holiday in the winter and once during the Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) holiday in the fall. However, following the cancellation of the “2020 Idol Star Athletics Championships – Chuseok Special,” the show has not aired for three years—though it did spawn several spin–offs during that time.

In response to a report that a “2022 Idol Star Athletics Championships – Chuseok Special” was scheduled to air this fall, MBC confirmed, “It’s true that we are once again planning the ‘Idol Star Athletics Championships.'”

However, they cautiously added that not all of the details have yet been set in stone, stating, “We are still in the process of discussing the details.”

The last time ISAC aired was in January 2020, when idols went head-to-head in various sporting events during the “2020 Idol Star Athletics Championships – New Year Special.”

Are you excited to see ISAC return to air? Stay tuned for further updates!
